Definition: “Staff Development” is defined as training/development opportunities that help employees to develop skills related to their current job duties, and to enhance career development. Importance: Training is an essential component of the work of state government. The capability of the state’s workforce must be fully developed to carry out the state’s mission and the missions of the various agencies of state government. Staff must be equipped with continuously updated skills to operate efficiently and effectively in an environment of rapid change.
